Arsenicum album — white arsenic — was one of the most feared poisons of the 19th century, and one of Hahnemann's most thoroughly proved remedies. Its picture: burning pains, icy chill, and an anxiety that will not sit still.

Intensely anxious, restless and precise. The person fears death, illness and being alone, wants everything in order, and is exhausted yet cannot lie still. They may go from one task to another, checking and re-checking, and fear the night.

• Burning pains that are better from warmth — including burning stomach or burning diarrhoea
• Food-poisoning-type vomiting and diarrhoea with exhaustion
• Extreme restlessness with anxiety about health
• Cold, shivery states with a hot head
• Asthma-like tightness worse at night, around midnight to 2am

↕️ Modalities (what makes it worse or better)

Worse: cold, damp, after midnight (1-2am), when alone. Better: warmth, hot drinks, sitting upright, company.

💊 Dosage & repetition

6C or 30C. Acute gastroenteritis: 30C every 30-60 minutes for a few doses. Real food poisoning with persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, blood or dehydration is a medical emergency — fluids and medical care come first.
